James Mize (b. 1998) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist from California whose practice spans illustration, painting, and various textile mediums. Grounded in realism, his work emerges from close observation of his immediate environment and the lived experience. He approaches art as a form of documentation, capturing overlooked moments that reflect themes of gender identity, memory, emotion, self-perception, and themes of the unknown.
