She holds a BA in Art from California State University, Bakersfield, where she began to reinterpret her personal history and narrative. She collects images that, when rendered in oils or charcoal, become a closer manifestation of these memories, which start to feel inauthentic with the passage of time. Her experiences with migration as a means for survival kindled her use of decorative symbols, often iridescent materials such as holographic vinyl, and construction materials in her reinterpretations of Fotoescultura.
